Compared to many other states, Massachusetts has stricter laws on window tint—at least when it comes to overall darkness. The following limits apply to cars, trucks and SUVs:
- Windshields may be tinted (with non-reflective tint) on the top 6” or up to the manufacturer’s AS-1 line
- All windows must allow at least 35% visible light transmission (VLT)
This means that your car’s windows must let at least 35% of light through.
