Who Can File a Roundup Lawsuit?
To file a lawsuit, you must meet the basic elements of a product liability claim. Specifically, you must prove that you were exposed to Roundup and that defects in the product injured you.

- You were exposed to Roundup.
- The exposure caused an injury or illness.

Which Cancers and Illnesses Are Linked to Roundup?
There is currently a Roundup MDL occurring in the Northern District of California. To join the MDL, plaintiffs must allege that Roundup caused non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) or certain forms of leukemia.
In February 2026, Bayer proposed a settlement that would cover thousands of current and future cases. What cancers are included in the Roundup lawsuit settlement proposal? The agreement would cover people with NHL and the following subtypes of NHL:
- B-cell lymphoma
- T-cell lymphoma
- Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)
- Hairy cell lymphoma
- Mantle cell lymphoma
Additionally, victims who develop NHL in the future may be eligible for the settlement. However, the settlement only proposes funding for ten years. If your NHL case is diagnosed more than ten years after the court approves the agreement, the settlement fund may not have enough money to compensate you.
It’s important to note that multiple myeloma is not included in the proposed settlement. Anyone alleging that they developed this condition due to Roundup exposure will typically need to file a Roundup lawsuit or maintain their pending lawsuit to prove causation.
Your Roundup lawyer can file a lawsuit against Bayer for other Roundup injuries. However, you cannot participate in the MDL.
How Long Do You Have to File a Roundup Lawsuit?
Each state has a statute of limitations, which determines how much time you have to file a lawsuit. In most states, the time starts when you discover or reasonably should have discovered your Roundup-related illness or injury.

What Settlements and Verdicts Have Been Awarded?
Bayer settled around 75% of Roundup lawsuits in 2020 for over $10 billion. The deadline to participate in this settlement has passed. However, you can file a lawsuit against Bayer as long as you meet the statute of limitations to seek your own settlement or verdict.
How Much Compensation Can Plaintiffs Receive?
There is no standard amount of compensation for Roundup injuries. You can seek compensation for your medical bills, lost income and pain and suffering.
In the most recent Roundup lawsuit updates, Bayer proposed a settlement with a tiered compensation system. While the settlement does not specifically describe these tiers or the amounts paid, it does describe the scoring system. If a plaintiff has a higher score, they can receive more compensation.
The settlement proposes using these factors to score claims:
- Plaintiff’s age, with young plaintiffs awarded more points than older plaintiffs
- Proof of exposure, with stronger proof entitled to a higher score
- Duration and extent of exposure, with more points awarded for greater exposure
- Invasiveness of medical treatments
The scoring system also awards additional points for plaintiffs who were diagnosed early or have already given depositions in their lawsuits. If the plaintiff had pre-existing conditions when they were diagnosed with NHL, they would receive fewer points.

Is There a Roundup Class Action Lawsuit?
There is no class action lawsuit. There is an MDL that functions similarly to a class action lawsuit, although each case in an MDL has a separate trial.
Do You Need a Lawyer to Join a Roundup Lawsuit?
You can always represent yourself. However, consider hiring an experienced attorney to navigate the MDL process and deal with Bayer’s skilled lawyers.

How Much Does It Cost to Hire a Roundup Lawyer?
Product liability lawyers usually work on a contingency fee. This means that when your lawyer wins or settles your case, they receive a portion of the damage award or settlement. If you are part of the Roundup MDL and you accept the settlement proposed by Bayer, your attorney’s fees may be partially paid from the settlement fund.
For this fee, your lawyer will typically handle all your legal work associated with the case without any upfront costs or ongoing billings. Any case reviews and consultations are also normally provided for no charge and under no obligation.
How Long Does a Roundup Lawsuit Take?
Some Roundup cases have been pending for over 10 years. However, plaintiffs in these cases hope that Bayer will soon settle all remaining cases.
